What are Russian Ladies looking for?
Why do they want a husband in a western country?
These are big questions. For most of these ladies, the answer is very
simple, they are looking for a “normal” family life, which is difficult to
come by in Russia and the Ukraine these days. The reasons for this are very
complex, but here is a brief overview to at least give you a bit of an
understanding about the difficult situation many Russian and Ukrainian women
find themselves in when looking for a
husband.
Russian culture has always put great emphasis on creating a strong and
harmonious family life. Unlike American women, Russian women are still
raised to respect the traditional roles of men and women in marriage, not to
see those roles as a “threar” to their self image. Russian women still
expect their men to fill their traditional roles as “Head of the Family”,
“Father Figure”, “Patriarch”, etc.
However, the fall of the Soviet Union has created circumstances in Russia
and Ukraine that have caused many men to reject these traditional roles in
family life.
(In a strange way, it is almost a mirror image of the way many American
women have rejected their traditional roles in the family.
It is important to keep in mind that Russia and Ukraine are experiencing
economic problems that are just as harsh, more widespread, and have lasted
longer than The Great Depression; and there is still no end in sight. There
are millions of college-educated men in Russia who have not been able to
earn a decent living for the last ten years. There are hundreds of thousands
of doctors, lawyers, engineers, and even nuclear scientists working as
laborers, driving taxis or selling candy bars and other small goods on the
street just to survive.
